Scan Results!

Results came in good. Where John Michael got his surgery there still is some tissue build-up but the doctor said it looks like it was removed completely in that area. YAAAAAAY!!! He said the Lymph nodes were still enlarged which makes me really nervous. I wish they could just remove them so we have an answer but there are millions of lymph nodes in the body that it would just be to much of an extensive surgery with the nerves being so close. They will not do anything with those unless they grow. Please pray they NEVER do!!!!! We will continue to do scans every 4 months. The scans never seem to get easier to go to. I thought I would be used to them by now but the anxiety is crazy!!! Thank you all for your continued prayers and support. It really means everything to us!!!

I also want to thank everyone from the bottom of our heart for your donations. We hope everyone can make it to the Benefit December 10th. We would love to see everyone and would LOVE for you to meet our little monkey if you haven't met him yet (as well as his best friend - Miranda (sister). They mean the world to us and your support has been amazing!!!! There will be Live Music, auctions, raffles, food and drinks!!!!!

Scan Results!!!

First I have to apologize for the delay in updating the blog. Our dr. was on vacation for a while and we received preliminary results until he returned. Since he knows JohnMichaels situation I didnt want any surprises. The scans are CLEAR for the most part. Praise GOD!!! :) The area where his cancer was removed and where the lymph nodes were taken out still show tissue build up from the surgery. Once that heals his scans will show more detail of those areas. They can see that nothing there has really changed as far as anything else growing. From his first scan they were worried about the lymph nodes being enlarged...that is why the ones in the neck were removed and were cancer free. There were still other lymph nodes that were enlarged but it is nearly immposible to get every lymph node thats enlarged. They say its like finding a needle in a haystack. On this scan it still showed the lymph nodes enlarged but they have not gotten bigger than the previous scan so they are not worried at this point. The dr. Says it is a starting point. The lymph nodes are innocent until proven guilty. Hahaha! Which means if they dont continue to get bigger then there is no cancer because cancer grows and spreads!!!! We are so blessed and thankful for this outcome! John Michael is doing great. We are in the process of potty traing...wish me luck! Hahaha....he is doing better then I thought he would. Miranda is starting preschool Sept. 6th and It has not sunkin' in yet. Time goes so fast...dont blink and cherish every moment! Thanks again for all of the support and prayers! John Michaels next scan will be at the end of October so I will keep everyone updated. Hope everyone has had a great summer!

Post Scan update!!!

John Micheal is an amazing little monkey!!! Going to the get our first scan after surgery was exciting and scary at the same time.  I don't think it will ever get easy but it is so re-assuring of God's great miracles.  He did great getting the IV and going back for the scan.  We got to sit right outside the room where it was being done.  About half way through the scan we heard him start crying....helpless moment but the doctor and and nurses were able to give him more sedation medicine to go back to sleep.  It was not the same as full general anesthesia (not as strong).  The scan took about an hour and 15 minutes and we were able to be with him as soon as he came out! He was still asleep until I started talking to him and he jumped up (in the hallway) to the recovery room and insisted on us holding him.  The nurses said he had to lay down till we get to the room and I tried to help them but he is just to strong so they gave in....hahahaha!!! It is funny because this happens to us every time he gets a procedure done.  The nurses and doctors are always shocked as we try to tell them ahead of time.  I guess that comes from the stubbornness of his parents  :o)  He fell back asleep when I was holding him and about 45 minutes later the nurse had us start waking him up to get ready to go home.  We warned them again before we started that he is very fighsty when he comes off anesthetics and they said they were used to that.  Well half way through the waking up part the nurses didn't know what to do and said they had never seen that before. So they said we just needed to give him another hour to recover and we agreed after about 30 minutes of passing him back and forth. We LOVE that little man!!! We gave it time and he finally woke up being the sweetest little baby ever!  So the procedure was only suppose to last 2 hours from start to finish and it ended up being 8:30am until 2:30pm.  Long day but whatever it takes matters the most! Now we are anxiously waiting for the results.  Thanks everyone for the support and prayers......it means more then you will ever know!

Update on our Little Monkey!!!

John Michael is doing GREAT!!!!!!!! We couldn't have asked for a better outcome.  We had a follow-up appointment on June 27th with the Oncologist.  As in the previous blog the lymph nodes were clear (NO CANCER!!! YAAAY!!!) The rest of the tests came in and they were all normal except of course the spot that was removed and it just confirmed that it was the Cutaneous T-Cell Lymphoma. GREAT news is it was removed and the doctor said he is now "CANCER FREE"!!! The most AMAZING words I think I have ever heard! We are so blessed and thankful for all of the prayers and support! John Michael will continue to have scans to make sure it is completely gone and stays gone.  His next appointment will be July 28th and that will just be an MRI of his head and neck since it did not spread through his body there is no need for a full body scan.  It will verify that all of the cancer was completely removed and there are no new signs of it.  Then October 28th he will have another full PT-Scan which is pretty much the same as an MRI except it is more extensive and it does the whole body.  As a mom I wanted a full body scan every time but the reason they don't do that is because the amount of radiation it puts off.  It is not safe for a little body like John Michael's. As long as both scans are clear he will be getting the MRI's of the head and neck every 4 months!!! John Michael is definitely a fighter and God does POWERFUL things!!!! Prayers are still very much appreciated!

John Michael and Miranda are both doing great putting aside the medical part.  John Michael is starting to talk full sentences and is ornery as ever! Miranda is getting ready to start preschool next month.  Where has time gone? It definitely goes by way to fast. I couldn't be more proud and happy of what my babies are becoming. I will update everyone again after John Michael's MRI. Hope everyone is having a great summer!

PRAYERS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED!!!

The best news we have ever received..........John Michael's lymph nodes are negative....NO CANCER!!!!! God is absolutely AMAZING!!!! We will get a final report on all of the testing from the surgery next week but that was the biggest one!!! Gosh....we can't thank everyone enough for their prayers and God for answering them right away.  As of right now we will be scheduling his cat scans for every three months.  If there are other lymph nodes that still show inflammation on the next scan then they will more than likely be biopsied....it's always nice to know for sure than to wait.  But what a relief this news is!!!!!  Once we get the final results back I will update the blog again! John Michael is doing great from his surgery! Miranda is such an AWESOME big sister....she takes such good care of him!!!! We are just so BEYOND happy!

Doing Great!

We are waiting on the doctors to come in and be released this morning! The nurses said they can't believe he is that active for just being out of surgery! He was already trying to jump in his hospital crib! Hahaha! He is a trooper! So now is the waiting period again! Please pray for negative cancer results in the lymph nodes! Thank you again for all the support and prays for our little bundle of joy!!

Also Miranda came up to visit last night and she was GREAT!!! She gave him a big and kiss right away and he LOVED it! The monkey in the picture was from his sister! They are so close and a great support for him! He just glows when he sees her!

Final surgery update

What a long day it has been! John Michael is amazing and all the support from Family and Friends has been more than we could ever ask for! We are truly lucky! John Michaels surgery lasted about 2.5 hours and they made an inscision in the neck and removed 3 sets of lymph nodes which the surgeon said were still large. Not the news we wanted but we will have to wait another week for those results. The leasion on his eye was removed successfully. They did not have to cut into the muscle! YAY!!!! We did have to stay at Riley tonight so they could keep an eye on his incisions and manage his pain levels. We will more than likely be leaving in the morning! He is doing great! He was definetly hungry and drinking well!!!! The doctors, nurses, and Riley have been wonderful!!! I will continue to keep updating as he progresses and we get results back. I could not thank everyone enough for the prayers and support! God is so powerful!!!!!

Surgery Update 1

John Michael went back to surgery around 12:30pm and did good! He wanted Mommy and Daddy this time when the nurse took him but we know he is in great hands! When we talked to the doctor prior to surgery he informed us that he will be removing the cancer on the left of his eye (which we knew) but there has been more research and doctors looking at his pet ct since it is very rare and decided they needed to make an insicion in his neck to remove a couple lynph nodes! We were not expecting this at all! He will be staying overnight at Riley to make sure everything is okay before he goes home! Please pray that he has no cancer in his lymph nodes! He will be in surgery about 3 hours. The nurse just came and said that he did great being put on the anesthesia and getting the IV's put in. She said they were just getting him situated to start the surgery so we will know an exact time when she comes back to update us! Thank you everyone from the bottom of our hearts for the prayers and support!

Surgery Preperation

It is finally here.  We got the call to confirm John Michael's surgery to be at 11:00am tomorrow morning.  I don't think I've ever been so nervous in my life.  I know it is the best thing that could ever happen but as a mother I just never imagined this for my children.  I know he will do great......if he is as ornery tomorrow as he is today.....I know he will be just fine....hahahaha!!! He is a firecracker..that's for sure.  Please keep John Michael and the doctors/Nurses in your prayers.  This is going to be a BIG day for us.  I will try and update periodically throughout the day.

Our Father in Heaven, we thank you for our lives and our health. We love you Father and we love John Michael Bledsoe III. We are grateful he is in our lives. We are offering a prayer before surgery so that John Michael may feel your love and our love. And Father, please bless John Michael to be comforted and free from worry or stress at this time.  We are grateful for the skilled surgeons and medical staff that are all around us now. We ask you to bless the doctors that will attend to John Michael that they will be inspired by you, that their skills be made strong, hands be made steady and sure and that the operation will go smoothly and be a success.  Please send angels and your love. We invite you to attend and direct the surgery.  Please, Father, bless the surgery recovery time to be pleasant, free from illness, infection and stress. Please bless John Michael's body to respond well to the surgery and all the medications. Please bless the healing after surgery to be rapid and perfect. Bless John Michael to return to normal life and responsibilities as soon as possible. Give him strength that he will use his health to love and serve you as you have loved and served him.  Please bless the doctors for their skills and education; and for being able and willing to help us all at this time.  We thank you for all you have given us, and ask for these blessings on all, especially John Michael Bledsoe III. This is our prayer. All of this we ask for; if it be it will, in Jesus Christ's name, Amen.

Change in plans!

The surgery has been postponed until next Thursday May 19th at 8:30am.  Last night John Michael started running a temp of about 103 degrees and still had one this morning of 102 degrees.  With his fever they would rather not do surgery with the risk of getting pneumonia or anything else with his immune system being down.  He's a tough little guy though.......last night poor thing couldn't hardly keep his eyes open trying to eat his crackers! So eating and drinking fluids is not an issue for him.  Today he has been pretty active. So we will just wait this out another week to get him all better again.  We cannot wait for this all to be over with! The prayers and support are SO much appreciated! Thank You...we couldn't do this without a great support system! I will update again in a few days to give an update on him.  Hope everyone has a GREAT weekend and hopefully this nice weather will continue!

Surgery Scheduled!!!

Today we met with the surgeon and we have surgery scheduled for Friday May 13th, 2011.  The surgeon is very positive about being able to remove all the cancer at that time.  Since some of the cancer is down in the muscle he will have to remove part of the muscle and stitch it back up which he said will heal and re-grow.  It will not affect any of his vision or eye growth or movement as he grows.....which is AWESOME!!! He will have a scar about an inch long next to his eye but we will take a scar any day!!! Thank you again for everyone's continuous prayers and support.  We are very thankful for all of the people who have included John Michael on their prayer list at their church.  Prayer is so powerful!!! I will update everyone again after John Michael's surgery next week.  It will be outpatient but an all day event.  The surgery will take approximately an hour and a half.  The rest is just preparation and recovery. Also big sister is doing GREAT!!! She knows brother has a boo-boo and it's going to get fixed but being 3 she still doesn't understand.  She has loved staying with family and friends during our Riley visits.  I think she is getting spoiled by all of this.....HAHAHA!!! We are so thankful to have such caring family and friends to be there for us.  Hopefully this surgery will be the last thing we have to do to cure John Michael besides the scans every 3 months to make sure it is gone and STAYS GONE! Miranda has done very well and soon our life will be back on our daily routine!!! I feel like we have been to the hospital like every other day for the last month.....hahaha!!!! Hope everyone is dong GREAT and will update everyone soon!

GREAT NEWS!!!

The cancer is localized to the one area next to his eye! THANK GOD....Prayer is so powerful!!! We will be meeting with an ocular plastic surgean at 9:15 Monday morning to get it completely removed. After that we will be doing ct scans every 3 months to make sure there is no change. There are a couple inflamed lymph nodes but that could be due to anything like having a cold or just from the procedures. They will be followed closely with the scans being done every 3 months!!! This is AMAZING!!! We couldn't be more happy of the outcome!!!! Please continue to pray as we will hopefully have our last procedure next week to remove the cancer!!!! Thanks again for ALL of the support and prayers... I will continue to update everyone after our surgery consultation Monday!!!

Preparing for the pet-ct scan!!!

Tomorrow is another BIG day for us! At around 11:45am we will be going to Methodist to have the
pet-ct done.  John Michael will be going under full anestesia for the test.  We will not be able to be with him once they start this.  At Riley I was able to hold him as they gave him the propofol to be sedated. I know they will take great care of him though! I will update everyone once the procedure is over.  Prayers have been so POWERFUL!!!!

Even though i can't see it, even though i don't understand it... i will walk by faith, i will ...Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will...

GREAT NEWS!!!!!!!

THANK YOU...THANK YOU...THANK YOU for all of your prayers!!!! The Bone marrow tests and spinal tap came back COMPLETELY NORMAL!!!!! OMG.....as a mother I can't descibe this feeling of relief!!!! We have one more hurdle to go...the pet-ct scan!!!! Please continue the prayers...THEY ARE WORKING>>>>>GOD IS GREAT!!!!!!! The next test will show if is anywhere else in the body such as the lymph nodes or any organs.  This is a scary one for us as his cancer is a lymphoma.  We pray it is just right on the skin and if so we are looking at a surgeon completely removing it or radiation! If it has spread then we are looking at chemo (worse case).  But taking one step at a time.......WE ARE EXTATIC ABOUT OUR NEWS TODAY!!!!!

We are waiting to talk to the doctors but we will not have any results back till the beginning of next week! If we find anything out before I will definetly update the blog!
